The immigration system in Agartala was shattered when the 'Internet server' went down which caused disruption to travel from Bangladesh to India via Akhaura. However, the situation has become somewhat normal after the start of the 'biometric' immigration process within 18 hours of sufferings. Passengers and tourists were relieved by the maximum use of technology at 9 pm on Friday through discussions between BGB-BSF and Bangladeshi immigration. Earlier, a man named Ashraful Islam Rana shared some pictures on his Facebook and wrote, 'Bangladeshi passengers have been stranded at the Tripura border after crossing the Akhaura Integrated Check Post. Due to the collapse of the immigration system, the pressure on Indian immigration has been increasing since 11 pm on April 29 (Friday). At a time, passengers are requested to return to the Bangladesh border after 8 pm last night. Many passengers fell ill while standing in line all day. Standing in line until the last news of Bangladeshi passengers (April 30 at 4 am), they had to wait at the Tripura border for immigration in a dilapidated situation. In the last 18 hours, about 5 to 6 hundred Bangladeshi passengers were still suffering. According to Bangladeshis, Indian authorities were providing pulses, rice and baby juice to the affected passengers. However, many could not catch the next flight due to the long queue. The passengers have appealed to the government for a solution. According to Akhaura immigration sources, the number of passengers traveling through Akhaura land port is increasing every day. During the Corona period, only medical, business and diplomatic visa holders used this land port to travel between India and Bangladesh. Although Bangladesh immigration can be easily crossed, the passengers are facing difficulties in Agartala immigration. However, the problem was solved at night. Yesterday, the highest number of 1477 passengers crossed the border in last two years.
